Maxi Dresses with Palestinian Embroidery
This collection of lovely, long maxi dresses is special. It features Palestinian hand embroidery by artisans from a women's cooperative in Jenin, Palestine, run by Um Imad Abu Zahra. At this cooperative, started by Um Imad in memory of her son, the women artisans support themselves by making and selling a variety of hand crafted items featuring the ancient craft of Palestinian hand embroidery.
We had the privilege of visiting the cooperative on recent trips to the Palestinian Territories and got to hear the women's stories, which were heartwarming to say the least! Inspired by the resilience and creativity of the women artisans, an idea was born. To create a small partnership between Artizara and the women, to showcase their ancient Palestinian craft, on contemporary long maxi dresses, made right here in the USA!
This first collection is the result of that partnership. Your purchase helps the Palestinian women artisans, supports the apparel sector in Southern California where the dresses are made, but above all spreads the message of peace. Our time with the women artisans of Jenin taught us that we are all in this together, all people on a tiny planet, with shared dreams for lives lived with hope and dignity. We hope you feel the love, all the way from Jenin, when you browse these special dresses.
