For some Muslims it signifies the five verses of Surah Falaq, seeking Allah's refuge from evil. For others in Islamic tradition, the five fingers represent the Five Pillars of Islam. Yet other Muslims call it the "Hand of Fatima", referencing the members of the Prophet Muhammed's daughter Fatimah Zahra's family; those five people over whom the Prophet held a cloth.
